MI Learns Assessment: Field Test

Opportunity to field test micro‐credential style assessment courses online

Join the MAC for a job-embedded learning opportunity for practicing education professionals, while demonstrating investment into  professional learning and contribution to your field.
Participation in action research, collaborative inquiry, field tests, and pilots can accomplish both individual professional learning and professional  contribution to betterment of the field. Take a first step by contributing your learner expertise to a MAC Field Test, and then include the credits you earn in your educator evaluation plan. Interested educators (teachers, administrators, instructional coaches, and others) are invited to field test one of the MAC’s online assessment courses aligned to Michigan’s Assessment Literacy Standards (2015/2017). Courses are organized by strands, and learning tasks represent the competencies and responsibilities educators encounter in their current context.

Field-test participants can choose a course in one of four assessment topics:
1. Formative Assessment: Formative Feedback
2. Developing Balanced Assessment Systems: Use and Users of Assessment
3. Developing Appropriate Assessments: Developing Learning Targets
4. Developing Appropriate Assessments: Test Blueprint and Design
All courses are entirely online, developed and facilitated by MAC, and hosted by Michigan Virtual.

Become eligible to earn up to 15-20 SCECHs
Course participants will be asked to submit evidence of their learning after completing assigned tasks. Tasks are constructed to permit the learner to apply knowledge and skills within their current job context. Assessment expert reviewers evaluate the evidence, providing feedback and rendering reliable judgment about learner performance. When proficiency is met, credit is awarded. Learners work at their own pace – following the course‐suggested calendar for submission of evidence. We estimate learners will invest 15 – 20 hours to complete, submit, revise, and resubmit evidence to demonstrate proficiency. There is no cost for participation or credit.
